Musings for 3/1 - Recovery Mode
Thanks again to all the well-wishers. I am much better off without a gallbladder, I can assure you. I am still at home recovering but starting to get pretty bored.
It’s really hard to decide what amount of activity is OK. I am going to be sore regardless - they did cut through my belly, after all. I don’t want to push too hard, but I want to do more than just sit around and blog all day.

Yesterday was a busy traffic day on the blog. Kevin, MD picked up on my post about E/M coding and so a bunch of people came over to my site via the Kevin effect. While I appreciated the nod, he mistook what I was saying about EMR and over-coding as a statement of a “fatal flaw of EMR.” Those of you who know me and read my posts will realize that this is far from what I was trying to say. The problem is with a bad payment system. When you computerize a bad system, you can do bad much faster. EMR enables you to do stupid documentation much quicker than if you did it by hand.
It should become more clear as I do more posts on the subject. I do think there are solutions to the current morass. I wouldn’t write this stuff if I didn’t think there were ways to improve things.

I would like to give a nod to the Business Week Online Working Parents Blog. I was recently quoted in this blog (regarding the “Toddler vs. AirTran” confrontation), and since then have followed it. They have a bunch of regular bloggers who do a very nice job posting interesting and helpful information.
That’s all for now. I think I’ll play a little Civilization IV.
